These images were made at the EEFC Balkan Folk Music and Dance Camp, held in the Mendocino Woodlands State Park, June 25 – July 2, 2016.
This collection shows Dr. Alex Marković, ethnomusicologist and EEFC Board President, dancing as a köçek. According to Wikipedia, The köçek (plural köçekler in Turkish) was typically a very handsome young male rakkas, or dancer, who usually cross-dressed in feminine attire, and was employed as an entertainer.
